In today’s episode, I team up with local guide Jonathan Franks and his friend Shahedi in Jerusalem’s Kidron Valley.

Shahedi’s family has lived here for generations, running a shop at the entrance to the City of David tunnel. Tragically, a combination of pandemic lockdowns and a tunnel entrance relocation has completely cut off foot traffic to the shop, leaving it closed.

The situation worsened this past winter when heavy storms caused the ground beneath Shahedi’s apartment to give out. The floor collapsed entirely. Shahedi, a father of eight, managed to get his family out with just minutes to spare after hearing rocks fall.

This video is a tour of the wonders of the Kidron Valley and an introduction to Shahedi. As a skilled jewelry maker and ancient coin dealer, he is now looking to sell his collection to support his family during this incredibly difficult time.

If you are interested in contacting Shahedi, please leave a comment or reach out via my socials.
