we took one of the most iconic bridges I have ever driven across from downtown San Diego to Coronado Island which is raised high above San Diego Bay. The view from the bridge delivers views of Point Loma, The San Diego skyline, and the Navy shipyards. Our destination was the Hotel del Coronado , built in 1888, where I never missed a visit when I was visiting family in San Diego. The hotel is now designated a National Historic Landmark.
The reason for our visit was a seasonal treat hosted by the hotel during the winter holidays. The Hotel Del turns their beachside deck into an ice skating rink. This is not your average ice skating rink, let alone, the idea of ice skating outside in San Diego sounds crazy enough. However, this ice skating rink is just a few steps from the beautiful Pacific Ocean and makes it the perfect spot to watch the sunset!
We had a wonderful time but the cost was not cheap. This is definitely an experience you won’t forget, but I am not sure if this is an activity that can be repeated multiple times a season.
You Keep Watching, and I’ll Keep Creating!
